Jeremy R. Thompson joined the firm in February 2014. For over 12 years, he has helped clients resolve disputes arising from physical injuries, damage to property, loss of a loved one, breach of contract, and fraudulent transactions. His focus is finding justice for those who have been wronged.
Mr. Thompson developed a passion for helping people before his legal career even started. While attending law school, he clerked at a personal injury and consumer protection firm. It did not take long for him to realize that regular folks need help navigating the confusing legal system. Without the assistance of an attorney, many people simply give up, or they accept less compensation than they deserve. Mr. Thompson works tirelessly to prevent that from happening.
Mr. Thompson spent several years as an “insurance defense” attorney, working closely with various insurance carriers. This experience puts him in the unique position of knowing the tricks claims adjusters use and the traps insurance companies lay to avoid paying fair compensation to injured victims. Mr. Thompson’s understanding of the industry puts him at a distinct advantage when negotiating settlements and mediating disputes.
Mr. Thompson, a Texas native, received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas in Austin. He then earned his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law. He is licensed to practice in the states of Texas, California, and Georgia. Additionally, Mr. Thompson is licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States.
Ali A. Akhtar
Ali A. Akhtar joined the firm in December 2011. Although he has been a practicing attorney for 12 years now, he has almost exclusively focused since 2004 on helping individuals who have suffered physical injuries or financial losses due to the negligence, recklessness, or fraud of others. He does so with the philosophy that at times like these, people need sensitive and experienced help to recover and return to their normal lives.
Mr. Akhtar developed this approach to representing people from growing up in small towns in Wisconsin, Kentucky, and Kansas. He attended the University of Michigan Law School (consistently ranked among the top ten law schools in the nation), and interned at one of the largest law firms in Texas (with multiple national and international offices, representing hundreds of corporate and business clients).
He found, however, that his passion was to pursue a “people’s practice,” working one on one with people in need. For example, while attending law school he worked for the Child Advocacy Law Clinic, where he successfully represented the interests of abused and neglected children in the State of Michigan’s family court system. Mr. Akhtar has managed hundreds of cases on behalf of injured individuals throughout his professional career, both by negotiating settlements and by taking cases to jury trial. In addition to being licensed in all Texas state courts, Mr. Akhtar is also licensed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.
Presently, in addition to being very active in his legal practice and in the community, he enjoys writing on a number of topics, maintaining a blog (The Austintatious Lawyer) which contains a number of his short articles and information resources that can help Texas citizens and consumers.
Mr. Akhtar is married and has two young sons, and enjoys playing competitive tennis.
